Job Description Johnson County Library seeks engaged, qualified candidates to fill the position of Branch Operations Manager as part of the Branch Services team in the southeast region and the northeast region. The Branch Operations Manager has management oversight of a Johnson County Library branch location(s), its related patron services (in branch, online or via community outreach) and service platforms (e.g., phone, email, web). This individual plays a highly operational role, managing the day-to-day efforts to deliver branch services for the Johnson County community. This individual is responsible for the end-to-end patron experience inside a branch; staffing (inclusive of creating and updating staff schedules); materials handling; facility management and security preparedness. The Branch Operations Manager will report to a Regional Manager and is responsible for communicating operational trends or issues to Regional Management on a regular basis. Duties include: Provides oversight of assigned branch locations, maintaining close partnerships with the respective Regional Manager, Regional Librarians, and all in-branch staff; ensures the execution of a positive end-to-end patron experience, including supporting staff participation in relevant patron experience training and adherence to patron experience standards; ensures appropriate application of Library policies, procedures, communication guidelines and brand standards in assigned branch locations; monitors environments to ensure they remain safe, clean, functional, and navigable-appropriately leveraging resources made available for these purposes; supports delivery of other library service lines delivered through the branch inclusive of programs and events, collection, information technology, and other library and partner initiatives; manages staff scheduling, in consultation with peers within the region and in other Library regions; serves as the lead branch resource for building safety and security protocols, including staying up to date on relevant policies and procedures such as workplace safety, monitoring and escalating safety and security risks, and managing work orders; serves as the primary point of escalation and support of branch staff in the event emergency services are needed, patron incidents occur, relevant approvals are needed, or building incidents occur that warrant the support of facility services; manages any relevant patron suspensions.
Job Requirements Minimum Job Requirements: A bachelor's degree in any field of study and two (2) years of experience providing customer service are required. Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency. Education/Experience Substitutions: Experience may be substituted for education. Education may be substituted for experience. Preferred Qualifications: A master's degree in Library Science, Business Administration, Organizational Design, Public Administration, or relevant field is preferred. One (1) year of experience leading, directing, supervising, or coordinating the work of others is also preferred. Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions: All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
