To schedule ancillary tests and procedures in a medically correct sequence in the Radiology Dept., Cardiology & Pulmonary Lab and Nuclear Medicine Dept. Outsource patients to contract vendors and prepare authorization for exams done outside of the clinic. Confirm and reschedule appointments when equipment is down. Give patients appropriate instructions, directions, and prep kits. Primary Responsibilities:
- DEPARTMENTAL RESPONSIBILITES
- Schedule appointments, test and procedures in a medically correct sequence for patients
- Furnish patients with printed schedules of test, instructions and prep kits
- Using automated scheduling system and authorized scheduling policies and procedures, accurately exercise good judgment in determining the sequence of radiology exams. Service customers in a timely manner with a professional attitude
- Use critical thinking skills while working in a high-volume area and be able to explain the exam and give instructions for tests and procedures performed in the Radiology Dept
- Work well with patients, nurses and contract vendors, accommodating their needs in emergency situations. Working with Radiology Supervisors for work-in, and/or shop for contract vendors to accommodate patients need
- Collect all the necessary patient and insurance information to allow for insurance verification
- Assist with cancellations and rescheduling of appointments for the Radiology Department
- UTILIZATION AND OUTSOURCING
- In order to provide better service to our patients and physicians for future growth, all HMO/Capitated POS patients must go through the main radiology scheduling desk for Outsourcing
- Responsible for verification of insurance eligibility
- Determine a convenient appointment time and location within contract standards. If no such appointment can be determined at a Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, then the scheduler is responsible for scheduling an appointment at one of our affiliated providers (OUTSOURCING)
- Responsible for generation of a utilization number on IDX referral form, following the
- Utilization Management Outsourcing Policy
- Assist patients or nurse in scheduling appointment with affiliated facilities
- Keep log of patients that have been outsourced for verification of received reports
- CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Maintain active professional relationship with patients and nursing staff by assessing needs and level of satisfaction with clinic service
- Demonstrate a polite, courteous and friendly manner at all times
- Service Customers and be able to maintain a professional attitude while working in a high-volume area assisting not only radiology but other departments and sites
- Organizational skills are above average
- Medical terminology and knowledge of different exams with special instructions
- Computer proficiency
- Handles stressful situations with little supervision
- Dealing with contract vendors and Utilization Management Dept. for authorization as needed

- RESOURCE AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

- Careful use of supplies to avoid waste
- Reports to the appropriate person when supplies are low

- Understanding the clinic's Quality Improvement Program

- High School diploma or GED from an accredited program
- 1+ years of scheduling experience
- 1+ years of medical or radiology experience
- Basic PC literacy. Alpha/Num Forms Entry
- Insurance knowledge
- Proven excellent customer service skills
- Proven ability to work efficiently in a high-volume area
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $17.74 to $31.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
