HonorHealth is looking for a System Engineer to support our Information Technology Team. This role will report directly to the Infrastructure Manager and work a host of leaders and employees from many different departments. This team supports an array of IT projects while learning the ICP network and problem solving many different technologies. The team is tight knit, a group of problem solvers who operate with a large degree of autonomy. What's exciting about this group is that they work with leading edge technologies and have a flexibility on what new technologies to implement. In this role you would have the ability to become familiar with new technologies as they become available and will be able to provide feedback and changes processes if improvement is needed. The ideal candidate must meet the minimum requirements of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field and have eight (8) years of experience in system administration and enginerring or supporting operating system configuration (Linux, MS Server 2012/2016/2019, AD, DFS, DHCP, DNS, VMWare, Storage Solutions). This is a hybrid role with three (3) days in office, Monday - Friday; 8am to 4:30pm. Flexibility, problem solving skills, good communication and a strong capacity to learn will add to your success in the role.

Responsibilities

Job Summary
The System Engineer III position serves as senior resource for issue escalation and subject matter expert in systems architecting, engineering, and administration. Responsible for and sets/maintains company standards for configuration, maintenance, upgrades, scripting, monitoring, and troubleshooting server-based applications, operating systems, and services. Resource demonstrates skill in exercising initiative, judgment, and decision making to solve problems and while meeting organizations objectives, both independently and in team settings. Provides escalation assistance to System Engineer I and II when/where needed. The System Engineer III position serves as a steward of the technology utilized at ICP and can relate business operations to their subject matter expertise. The System Engineer III position includes analyzing, diagnosing, trending, and resolving problems or issues on multi-platform systems. This position makes recommendations and is a lead in the implementation effort of performance enhancements, upgrades, and replacements for corporate technology. Works with user/client community on system integration and provides training to ensure smooth workflows with the Innovation Care Partners network of physicians and providers. Will work exclusively on Innovation Care Partners projects and initiatives
Essential Functions
  • Provides subject matter expertise with Windows and/or Linux system administration, technical support, and maintenance for specialized systems, servers, and applications including Apache, Tomcat, MySQL, Talend, Symfony, Mirth Connect. Manages and maintains security and integrity of server applications including Backups, File Auditing, Faxing, File Transfer, Printing, and Virtual Machines to support security posture and organizational SLA's. Seek to expand and maximize the use of existing systems and applications. Maintains and updates the disaster recovery procedures documentation to ensure retrieval on all data and system software. Reviews and makes recommendations for creation or modification of IT policies and procedures to management. Serves as a technical escalation point for multiple systems and platforms including but not limited to Linux based operating systems and/or Microsoft Server based operating systems, Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Active Directory, Group Policies, DFS, and Single Sign On (SSO). Escalation path for level II related technical and support related issues/challenges. Ensures consistency and maintainability of existing servers/services/applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions. Acts as a steward of the technology utilized at ICP by relating business operations to technology within their subject matter expertise and collaborates and coordinates with appropriate staff.
  • Architects, engineers, and recommends new systems, services, and/or applications and presents solutions, costs, and recommendations to manager/supervisor. Plans and acts as SME lead for the implementation, installation, modification, testing, training and integration of systems, services, and applications at ICP while communicating effectively with IT support staff and/or stakeholders to ensure the process runs smoothly and meets agreed upon SLA's and timelines. Produces a detailed timeline for each system/service/application installation and implement effective project control by monitoring the progress of the software installation and configuration while reporting the status to management. Reviews vendor reports or visits vendors to observe demonstration of systems software, operating systems, and applications. Participates in programs regarding technical support issues, product offerings, software evaluations, etc. Analyzes changes in software and operating systems issued by manufacturer, author, or vendor and determine impact on existing production systems, systems design, programming standards, and operating procedures. Reviews all designs, codes, and unit test plans where applicable. Assists with budget planning as it relates to subject matter expertise and responsibilities. Works closely within ICP and the user community to analyze research and make recommendations for technical solutions to business problems. Participate on project teams and committees. Represent the IT function at review meetings as requested.
  • Maintains and updates disaster recovery procedures documentation to ensure retrieval on all data and system software. Reviews and assists in the maintenance of IT policies and procedures for management submission and documentation purposes. Responsible for creating and maintaining knowledge base articles and existing IT related documentation. Produces specialized reports/data/auditing. Analyzes data and reports for anomalies or indicators. Reviews productivity reports and problem records to evaluate performance of computer system in identifying opportunities for improvement and pro-active resolution of deficiencies.
  • Provide cross-training with peers. Leads, mentors, and aids other IT staff that are less technical to elevate the capabilities of the IT function. Maintain current knowledge in new and existing software and industry best practices to ensure productivity, capability, and return on investment.
  • Be available to monitor and respond to systems issues and emergencies off-hours for mission critical systems, and serve as level 3 escalation path.
  • Other related duties as assigned or requested.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 years' experience In Computer Science or similar field or systems administration and/or engineering. - Required

Licenses and Certifications
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert or MCSE Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, Individual certifications in Windows DFS, AD, or DNS. - Preferred
  • IT\RHCE - Red Hat Certified Engineer Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) - Preferred
  • System Administration certification (MS, Red Hat, Cisco, VMWare, Citrix or other related, etc.; recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment) - Required
  • VMWare Certification (VCAP and/or VCDX) - Preferred
