Position Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Project Engineer and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Avionics Projects & Systems section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.
**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available**


Duties And Responsibilities

Some of your major responsibilities will include:

  • Provide design and test support in various aspects of development in support of the Johnson Space Center Engineering Directorate
  • Support project teams with development of test procedures and verification and validation processes.
  • Perform testing and verification of flight hardware.
  • Maintain and ensure baseline test configurations and document any configuration changes.
  • Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed.
  • Work in a collaborative, team environment and report to project managers for technical support, task assignment, and processes.
  • Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within hardware or test support hardware.
  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
  • Work with technicians to build and test designed systems
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • A BS Engineering degree from an accredited engineering school
  • Ability to work autonomously when required.
  • Self-motivated, team player with adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required.
  • Ability to operate in a laboratory environment and perform necessary troubleshooting tasks.
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
  • Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical/electrical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.

PREFERRED :

  • Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware.
  • Experience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes.
  • Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis.
  • Experience with procedure development.
  • Co-op or Intern experience at JSC or other NASA agency.
  • Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process.
  • Prior experience working and coordinating requirements with third party/outside Vendors
  • Familiarity with NASA Quality operational procedures and requirements
  • Willing to work off hours/alternative shifts when running tests.Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
