STV is looking for a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our highly skilled Civil/Highway Design Team in Chicago. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside our experienced team, learn, and contribute to meaningful projects. This hybrid position requires at least 3 days a week in the office. Preference will be given to those who can participate in the internship for at least 3 months. Responsibilities
  • Utilize Microstation, Geopak, OpenRoads, and/or AutoCAD to assist in designing roadway improvements, including geometrics, drainage, utilities, traffic, and other associated elements
  • Support development of construction documents, including drawings and specifications
  • Assist in developing technical design reports, calculations, and memos
  • Perform research in support of developing design solutions
  • Periodically perform field inspection
  • Utilize Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) to assist with design calculations, memorandums, forms, communication, and presentations
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering at an ABET-accredited University or NCEES equivalent.
  • Preferred - experience in architecture/engineering/construction management industry
  • An engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred but not required.
  • A basic understanding of civil transportation engineering fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with civil design drafting software
  • A strong desire to work with and help clients, public stakeholders, and fellow team members.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A desire to work on large multidisciplinary transportation projects with fast-paced schedules, which require creative thinking and innovative problem-solving skills

Compensation Range:

$40,874.00 - $54,498.00
