Job Description

The Patient Reimbursement Specialist is a member of the multidisciplinary team charged with the responsibility of providing accurate and professional financial clearance to patients seeking therapeutic services, treatments and diagnostic tests ordered as part of their treatment plan. The Specialist mitigates the financial risk by performing an accurate financial clearance review. The Specialist interviews and collects patient financial, clinical and demographic information, updates the medical and financial records, completes a comprehensive analysis of the patient and payor specific benefits and the patient liability and obtains all necessary authorizations. Coordination and communication with the patient, clinical team including the physicians, nurses, social workers and pharmacists is key to the success of reducing financial risk.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, preferred

Healthcare experience with a minimum of five years in insurance verification, authorization, and billing.

Clinical background relevant to oncology and medical policy. Experience with cancer care and treatments

Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor in highly intense and complex situations

Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with sensitivity with all customers, anticipating and striving to reduce levels of stress, fear, concerns and difficulties related to cancer treatments

Excellent financial counseling skills, preferred

Ability to analyze data and benefit information

Ability to calculate patient estimates and liabilities/responsibilities.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Knowledge of medical terminology

Ability to apply specific departmental policies, rules, and regulations related to verifying patient information, collecting payments and maintaining records and forms

Salary Range:

$37.24 - $55.85 USD Hourly
