BlueHalo Labs is currently searching for a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join our quickly growing team. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the manufacturing process to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will lead a team of engineers and technicians, collaborate with cross-functional departments, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians to achieve production targets and quality standards.
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvement.
- Develop, evaluate and implement quality control procedures to maintain consistent product quality.
- Collaborate with design, procurement, and quality assurance departments to ensure seamless coordination throughout the production cycle.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, equipment, and workflows.
- Enforce safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Evaluate new manufacturing technologies and implement them to improve production processes.
- Manage production costs effectively without compromising quality or safety standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of production processes, performance metrics, and deviations.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and provided inputs to capital budgets, cost, quality, and schedules. Implementation of new capital equipment to the production line.
- Capacity planning and resource loading schedule experience is preferred.
- Establish new workcenters for new products.
- Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement, and space requirements for new products and to improve manufacturing efficiency for existing products.
- Collaborate, identify, and monitor with Root Cause Corrective Analysis and identify and monitor corrective actions to resolve production and product issues.
- Review and approve engineering drawings and Bill of Materials. Interface with Engineering to ensure new product designs meet Design-For-Manufacturing guidelines. Participate in engineering design reviews.
- Create production procedures and instructions to facilitate production execution in compliance with engineering drawings and data, quality requirements, and regulations.
- Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvement.
- Identify and differentiate between manufacturing, design, and component issues, and coordinate resolution of the issues with the appropriate individual, group, or organization.
- Monitor production equipment and coordinate maintenance, calibration and repair services and make sure that manufacturer's procedures and instructions are followed.
- Monitor technician performance and provide training and guidance as needed to maintain certifications and performance standards.
- Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; and soliciting observations from operators and engineers.
- Analyze production processes, schedules, methods, and other data and provide management with reports to facilitate process improvements.
- Perform data collection to facilitate the tracking of manufacturing related data including Test Yields, Manufacturing fallout, through-put, etc.
- Prepare and lead with cognizant teammates, physical and functional configuration audits.
- Monitor and record production performance; labor, material cost, schedule, etc, to support management in monitoring current performance and estimating for future opportunities.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Able to interpret technical documentation and specifications.
- Demonstrated experience working in the defense industry and understanding of auditing agency, such as, Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).
- Familiar with process flow control.
- Troubleshooting, advanced debugging, and testing skills.
- Statistical analysis.
- Design for manufacturability.
- Implementing systems for continuous improvement.
- Advanced problem solving and communication skills and able to multi-task.
- Conscientious and detail oriented.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools.
- Hardware Interfacing and Software Integration skills.
- Database and Reporting Software experience.
- Experience in process analytics and metrics reporting.
- Desired: IPC soldering standards and circuit card, harness, and system assembly.
- Desired: Solidworks experience
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 7 years related experience in manufacturing engineering and 3 years related experience leading a team or program.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Proven track record of optimizing manufacturing processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex production issues.
- In-depth knowledge of quality control procedures and manufacturing best practices.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with CAD software and manufacturing automation systems is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Some travel may be required.
- Potential for supporting extended work weeks during some phases of assembly, integration, and test, as necessary.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a US Department of Defense Security Clearance.
Primary Location: BH Albuquerque Office, onsite Salary Range: $135,000 to $175,000 The BlueHalo pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
