As a member of the Division of Undergraduate Education, the Educational Partnership Center (EPC) provides an array of school centered and student centered activities for students, parents, faculty and community members across the Monterey Bay and Silicon Valley/San Jose regions to support students on the college-going pathway. The EPC coordinates new and long-standing student academic preparation efforts of the University of California, Santa Cruz with the goal of increasing access and opportunity to postsecondary education for students across our service area. The EPC provides support to faculty, staff and outreach groups to work collaboratively with schools, universities and community colleges to promote an educational pipeline for success for all students. The GEAR UP project is under the umbrella of the EPC, serving under-represented, low-income students with the goal of increasing the participation rate of program/cohort participants in post-secondary education. GEAR UP operates in the Pajaro Valley region, South Monterey County, and Monterey County. More information can be found at: https://epc.ucsc.edu/ JOB SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the GEAR UP Assistant Director, the Lead College Facilitator will coordinate and implement GEAR UP activities and services at assigned schools. They are the primary contact and team leader of GEAR UP direct services at times supervising one to three college facilitators and several undergraduate interns. The incumbent will plan and lead efforts to increase the number of educationally disadvantaged and/or low-income students who attain eligibility and competitiveness for admission to colleges and universities and provide educational services designed to motivate middle and high school students to prepare academically for higher education. The incumbent will be responsible for providing outreach services at one or more partner middle(s) and/or high school(s) in the designated area and/or surrounding service area. Involves planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs, activities, counseling, tutoring and advising focused on students' successful graduation from high school and college, and career readiness. Works with students, program alumni, teachers, counselors, school districts, community stakeholders and parents. APPOINTMENT INFORMATION Budgeted Salary: $77,680/year - $85,540/year.
