Public Safety Internship Summary Description
Step into a dynamic leadership role with our 10-week internship in the Public Safety Department. This immersive experience is designed to provide aspiring professionals with hands-on exposure to the management and administrative functions that support public safety operations. Interns will gain practical leadership experience by contributing to initiatives such as policy development, training, program evaluation, and organizational culture enhancement. The internship offers opportunities to engage in strategic planning, process improvement, and internal communications, providing a strong foundation in managing public safety from a leadership perspective.
Internship Details:
  • This is a 10 Week Summer Internship Program starting on May 26, 2026 and ending July 31, 2026.
  • CSX provides optional intern housing for the duration of the 10-week program, as long as the selected intern meets eligibility criteria
  • Interns are expected to be in Jacksonville for the duration of the program
  • Daily work schedule is onsite
  • Competitive hourly pay
  • The Summer Internship Program will include: cross-functional learning, local onsite visits, Executive networking sessions, lunch & learn, and more

Primary Activities and Responsibilities
* Rewrite standard operating procedures
* Develop a training manual for new hires
* Audit the employee training program
* Support culture-building and employee engagement initiatives
* Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Leadership, Human Resource Management, Criminal Justice Administration
Preferred Qualifications
* Anticipated graduation within a year after the end of the internship
Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to maintain composure under all types of situations
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Microsoft Office skills
* Strong multi-tasking skills
* Team collaboration skills
Job Requirements
* Different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation
* Work hours may vary in length and schedule (non-standard work week)
* Field and office environment
