Open Date Sep 18, 2025 Description A postdoctoral fellowship position is available to perform research on innovative statistical methods with essential applications to medicine and health care involving clinical trials and observational studies. The fellowship is a two-year position with a possibility for a third year. The successful candidate will be appointed in The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice and the Department of Biomedical Data Science and will be supervised by Dr. James O'Malley. We have available a substantial amount of trial and observational data that has already been collected to inform the research. Potentially relevant statistical areas include modeling complex data structures such as hierarchical, longitudinal, and multi-membership data structures; network data, and causal inference. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with experts in shared decision-making, patient communication, health policy, medical sociology, and various other areas within medicine. The primary goal of the position is to conduct research leading to publications in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals. Founded in 1797, the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth draws on the resources of Dartmouth College and Dartmouth-Health Medical Center for broad interdisciplinary programs in biomedical research, education, patient care, and service. Located in rural New Hampshire on the Vermont border, the region uniquely offers idyllic landscapes and recreation, along with outstanding schools and cultural activities.
