Description
The Physician Support Assistant (PSA) will assist physicians with a wide range of administrative tasks related to patient care within their department. Working under physician direction, the PSA will support documentation, workflow, and coordination to ensure efficient patient care delivery. Key Responsibilities:
Record medical documentation (electronic or paper), including patient history, review of systems, physical exam findings, progress notes, procedure notes, and follow-up of laboratory and diagnostic results. Expedite consults and assist with follow-up documentation related to patient care. Monitor medical record documentation for accuracy and completeness; return incomplete charts to physicians and provide feedback on errors. Review all records for correct spelling, grammar, and completeness before submission for physician approval. Support physician workflow by keeping physicians on schedule during clinic hours and assisting with required forms (e.g., return-to-work and return-to-school). Abstract, scan, and catalog paper records into the electronic record system. Collaborate closely with physicians and the medicine team to ensure smooth clinic operations. Provide coverage at department clinics throughout the community as assigned. - Perform other duties as needed.

Salary Range: $23.58-$33.05
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, including ability to distinguish exams and diagnoses; familiarity with E&M codes and documentation requirements for billing
- Minimum of two years' experience as a scribe or in physician support, with prior experience training new Physician Support Assistants
- Flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database software; experience with EMR systems such as Medhost, Epic, or Cerner
- Strong interpersonal skills to build cooperative and diplomatic relationships with physicians, staff, patients, and the public
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including clear speech, appropriate grammar, and accurate documentation
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; able to proofread, track multiple records, and follow through independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to perform effectively under frequent interruptions and distractions while maintaining professionalism and composure
