Job Description

The AVP, Data Governance leads the strategic development, implementation, and continuous optimization of the Data Governance function cross the organization. Responsible for establishing a comprehensive enterprise-wide data governance framework and optimizing data lake architecture to ensure data quality, accessibility, security, and compliance. Drives alignment of data governance initiatives with organizational priorities to support analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and data sharing with external partners.

Job Responsibility

Lead the development of the enterprise data governance program, frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements and lead/participate in data governance forums. Contribute to driving performance relative to the metrics/KPIs for data and analytics around value, productivity, and performance. Be able to articulate the business value and impact of data and serve as an advocate and champion for data and EDS.

The ideal candidate will possess strong relationship-building skills, have experience with facilitating consensus, and will understand data models and services so as to be able to share details with them with key stakeholders.

1.Develops,executes and maintains a robust and scalable data governance framework, encompassing policies, standards, procedures, metrics, and a clearly defined data ownership and stewardship operating model.

2.Leads and facilitates the Data Governance Leadership Council, composed of key stakeholders, to define data governance priorities, resolve issues, and drive decision-making. Oversees the daily execution and operational excellence of the governance program.

3.Implements data quality processes, including data profiling, cleansing, and validation, to improve data accuracy and reliability across the enterprise.

4.Establishes and maintains a comprehensive metadata management program to ensure data discoverability, understanding, and lineage.

5.Collaborates with Information Security and Privacy teams to ensure data governance practices align with security and privacy policies and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).

6.Ensures compliance with all applicable data governance regulations and industry best practices.

7.Builds strong relationships with business and technical stakeholders to foster a data-driven culture and promote adoption of data governance principles.

8.Provides leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to a dedicated team of data governance professionals.

9.Develops and delivers training programs and communication materials to promote data governance awareness and understanding.

10.Defines, tracks, and reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of the data governance program, regularly updating senior leadership on progress and challenges.

11.Assists with making recommendations to senior and executive leadership regarding strategic direction for key programs and/or services.

12.Evaluates and recommends data governance tools and technologies to support the program.

Job Qualification

*Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or related field, required. Master's degree preferred.

*10-12 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related field.

*7+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing and developing teams.
