The Audio Operator plays a critical role in the execution of high-quality sound for all live and taped productions at PGA TOUR Studios. This position is responsible for ensuring pristine audio capture, mixing, and delivery across multiple platforms, including broadcast, digital, and in-house content.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree or related experience in Television, Broadcasting, Communications, or Journalism. Minimum 3 years broadcast television or related experience at the regional to large market or network level. Proficient knowledge of the technical parameters of audio and video signals, compliance of NAB and ATSC A/85 loudness standards Background in live digital production consoles and operational experience with Pro Tools. Knowledge of Calrec audio boards preferred. Ability to manage multiple simultaneous audio sources with speed and precision. Familiarity with broadcast control rooms, studio floor audio setups, and communication systems preferred. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Teamwork and communication skills; able to work closely with A2's, producers, directors and talent. Strong interest in golf preferred. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule which may include evenings, weekends, or holidays.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Mix and monitor live sports broadcasts and taped productions to deliver clear, balanced, and consistent audio across all platforms. Operate and maintain audio consoles, processors, intercoms, and routing systems in both field and studio environments. Conduct pre-event system checks and post-event maintenance to ensure reliability and peak performance. Collaborate with other audio engineers, Directors, Technical Directors, and Producers to execute creative production goals. Set up microphones, manage RF systems, and route signals for talent, officials, and ambient sources. Configure and patch audio feeds through routers and mixing consoles for live and recorded content. Identify and troubleshoot technical issues, documenting and escalating through standardized engineering protocols. Ensure compliance with PGA TOUR Studios' technical procedures and operational standards. Research and recommend emerging audio technologies to enhance workflow and production quality. Support special projects and contribute to cross-functional initiatives as needed.
