JOB TITLE: CASHIER (12:30 PM TO 9:00 PM)

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Cafe Cashier fulfills the cashier/salesperson role in the hospital's cafe, providing prompt and courteous customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and volunteers. This position supports a positive, welcoming environment and represents the hospital to every customer. Responsibilities include operating the Cashier system, processing a variety of payment methods, stocking merchandise, maintaining cafe appearance, and assisting customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operates the POS sales system to process transactions efficiently and accurately, including cash, credit card, QuickCharge payroll deduction.
  • Addresses customers courteously and respectfully, providing assistance, answering questions, and resolving sales or customer service concerns.
  • Maintains accurate cash handling procedures, including preparation of opening and closing statements and daily deposits
  • Assists in maintaining accurate inventory control through proper stocking, tracking, and reporting.
  • Unpacks and checks in merchandise shipments safely and accurately, ensuring items are handled to prevent loss or

damage.

  • Straightens, dusts, and refills cafe displays to maintain a neat, clean, and visually appealing cafe appearance.
  • Monitors inventory levels and communicates low-stock or out-of-stock needs to management.
  • Follows all hospital infection control, safety, and security procedures while working in the Cafe environment.
  • Provides visitors with general information or directions within the hospital, when appropriate
  • Projects a positive and cooperative attitude when executing job duties and adapting to changes in routine
  • Supports the Cafe's role in enhancing the hospital environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned that are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Graduate or GED required.

Experience: Minimum one (1) year cashier experience

Mimimum Age: 18 years of age

Work Conditions: Heavy Standing, Moderate Walking, keyboard use/repetitive hand motion, and pushing and or lifting up to 25 pounds, Light Sitting, Balancing, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling and reaching/working overhead.
