SUMMARY The Operating Room Nurse provides direct patient care in a surgical setting in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Monitors and manages the patient and operative environment during surgery to maintain a safe environment, optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. The Operating Room at Anschutz campus is a 14 OR unit that treats children and adolescents for any level of injury or illness. The unit supports 24 different surgical specialties and performs more than 23,000 cases a year. We are a unique, yet impressive team comprised of bachelor's prepared nurses, certified surgical technicians, anesthesia technicians, anesthesia providers, and surgeons. The staff in the OR are proud to provide safe quality of care to our patients. We perform a wide variety of surgical procedures including abdominal and thoracic surgery, bariatric surgery, cleft, craniofacial, and plastic reconstructive surgery, colorectal surgery, cardiac surgery, ENT surgery, fetal surgery, burn treatment, trauma surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology surgery, gynecologic procedures, transplant surgery, and urology surgery. Our OR nurses and surgical technologists receive extensive training and education in all surgical specialties promoting communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. We promote continued education and encourage staff to pursue specialty certifications. Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intraoperative patient care plans MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Experience: One (1) year perioperative (scrubbing and/or circulating) nursing experience or successful completion of a perioperative course Equivalency: Applicants with an Associate's Degree in Nursing who agree to obtain a BSN within 3 years from their start date may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science (BSN) in Nursing Certification(s): BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire. Licensure(s): Current State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Salary Information As part of our Total Rewards package, Children's Colorado offers an annual employee bonus program that rewards eligible team members based on organizational performance. If organizational goals are met for the year, the bonus is paid out the following April.
