POSITION SUMMARY
Crystal Mountain Resort is seeking a dynamic and experienced
Director of Food & Beverage to lead and elevate the resort's culinary and hospitality experience across multiple outlets. This role oversees all food and beverage operations including full-service dining, quick-service outlets, seasonal venues (including ski season and summer operations), banquets, and special events.
The Director will be responsible for strategic planning, team leadership, operational excellence, and financial performance, ensuring that every guest enjoys exceptional service and memorable dining experiences that reflect the spirit of Crystal Mountain.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Hire, train, lead and develop the department's managers and team members.
- As a member of the Resort's Senior Leadership Team, engage in new business growth initiatives, and carry-out new growth initiatives.
- Provide a positive work environment for staff members by giving them the tools they need to be successful with open, honest, and direct communication.
- Develop productive relationships throughout the Resort, Community, and Industry.
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety and perform needed repairs and maintenance promptly.
- Provide effective leadership for management and culinary teams by being engaged in daily operations, providing direction and support to achieve goals.
- Performs regular on-site inspections of Food and Beverage operations for evaluation, training, and support.
- Works collaboratively with Managers to determine and implement proper service strategy.
- Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation amongst all team members
- Remain up to date in culinary trends and the trends in technology in food service
- Develop and oversee the annual implementation of resort F&B plan and budget.
- Track results and monitor spending to assure adherence to budget by tracking daily, weekly, and monthly progress.
- Adjusts budgets and reforecasts as needed across the year based on changing business needs.
- Institute and oversee sound cost of goods management and waste reduction practices
- Negotiate supplier and distributor contracts and manage relationships
- Must be available to travel to occasional meetings and trade functions regionally and nationally
- Network and share best practices with Food and Beverage peers at our sister resorts, as well as with Alterra Mountain Company resources
- Conduct regular one-on-one and departmental meetings to ensure a good flow of information
- Complete other tasks and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience across a variety of F&B categories (quick service, full-service, bar, catering and events) including back of house and front of house operations.
- Experience managing a staff with high levels of seasonal variability preferred.
- Experience with menu and recipe development, vendor relationships, food safety standards, budget development, and strategic planning are essential parts of this role.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Position may require occasional overnight or day travel. Any employee or volunteer who operates a company vehicle including cars, trucks, snowcats, snowmobiles, or heavy equipment is required to comply with the Driver's Standards Policy. This policy also applies to employees or volunteers driving their personal vehicles for company business more than four times per month, averaging 30+ miles per trip. All drivers should receive a full copy of the company's Driver's Standards Policy; if you have not - please contact your Risk/Safety or HR/EE Department.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
- Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
- Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
- Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
