Building on our past. Ready for the future

Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We're bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Play an integral role in shaping the future of manufacturing excellence at Worley. We're looking for a seasoned Senior Material Controller who thrives in a fast-paced, production-driven environment-someone who understands the nuances of material flow, precision planning, and the critical connection between supply accuracy and project success. You'll join a collaborative team that values practical problem-solving, clear communication, and a proactive approach to supporting world-class projects in the manufacturing sector.

Purpose of the role

You will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and optimizing all aspects of material control for complex manufacturing operations. This includes forecasting material needs from engineering specifications, verifying availability, and ensuring timely distribution to support ongoing production and installation. You'll bridge the gap between engineering, procurement, and operations-translating technical documentation into actionable inventory plans that keep manufacturing moving efficiently and safely.

Core Responsibilities

  • Review blueprints, bills of materials, and product specifications to determine accurate material requirements for each phase of production.
  • Maintain and operate a robust material control system, ensuring all incoming materials are received, stored, tracked, and distributed according to project needs.
  • Validate orders against engineering drawings and adjust quantities based on existing inventory levels and standard manufacturing sizes.
  • Collaborate with engineers, procurement teams, and on-site operations to resolve material discrepancies and optimize material utilization.
  • Lead material control planning for multiple manufacturing projects, establishing procedures and workflows that improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Oversee the documentation and coding of materials, maintaining clear traceability across all stages of production and installation.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to junior material controllers and related team members, ensuring consistent application of best practices.
  • Utilize ERP and inventory management systems to generate reports, track performance metrics, and troubleshoot process issues.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to align material availability with project schedules and client delivery timelines.

What you'll bring to the role

  • A university degree or equivalent in supply chain, logistics, materials management, or a related discipline-or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in material control or inventory management, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing setting.
  • Advanced understanding of engineering documentation, including blueprints and material take-offs.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to forecast, plan, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and material tracking software.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments and communicate clearly with engineers, project managers, and operations staff.
  • Leadership experience in guiding material control teams and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • A pragmatic approach to problem-solving-able to identify issues early, propose solutions, and drive results.

Feel the energy at Worley with access to a range of benefits including: paid time off, holiday pay (usually 8 per year in the US), and eligibility to participate in the medical, life, dental, and vision insurance plans, as well as a 401(k) plan with company match.

If you're ready to take the lead in material control for manufacturing projects that make a global impact, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and bring your expertise to a team that values innovation, precision, and collaboration.
