About the Role



We're looking for a driven, energetic Field Sales Representative to grow Interstate Connecting Components presence across primarily Upstate NY area. You'll be responsible for expanding business with existing customers and developing new relationships within the military and aerospace electronics distribution market.



Your customers design and manufacture cutting-edge systems and equipment used by the United States military-including naval ships and submarines, army vehicles, radar systems, and military aircraft. There's a tremendous sense of pride in knowing that your efforts directly support those who serve and protect our nation.



Your goal: make Interstate Connecting Components and our franchised manufacturers the trusted, go-to resource for engineering and supply chain support.



You'll partner closely with inside sales, supplier reps, and leadership to build strong, lasting relationships built on trust, performance, and service.



What You'll Do



  • Drive sales growth by expanding business with current customers and developing new accounts in your territory.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and supplier partners to deliver exceptional service and technical support.
  • Build a pipeline of new opportunities through proactive outreach, design wins, and strategic account development.
  • Track and manage activity using Heilind's CRM and sales tools to ensure accurate forecasting and follow-up.
  • Be a visible, trusted presence at customer sites, industry events, and supplier trainings.


Your First 6 Months



  • First 2 Weeks: Meet with leadership to align on goals and success metrics.
  • 30 Days: Learn Heilind's systems and tools; visit your top 10-20 customer accounts and key supplier reps.
  • 60 Days: Expand visits to your full account base; begin logging new opportunities and designs daily.
  • 90 Days: Partner with your manager to prioritize and rank accounts; complete training and identify at least $150K in new opportunities.
  • 6 Months: Conduct supplier training events, report on your new design pipeline, and identify $300K+ in new business opportunities.

Salary Range
Base salary: ~$60k-$75k Overall target expected ~ $85k - $100k (Dependent on experience)
Requirements

What You'll Bring



  • Bachelor's degree in business or a technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years in Sales or marketing experience-preferably in electronic component distribution or a related industry.
  • Proven success in field or commissioned sales roles.
  • Experience with CRM/sales tracking software and strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within your territory.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and goal-driven with a record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to Naval Contractual Agreements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers.
