The Opportunity

DAT is looking for aSr Security Engineer, to join our security team. This position can be based in our Seattle, WA office.

The Sr Security Engineer will join our Security Architecture and Engineering team. As a key member, you'll lead the design, implementation, and adoption of org-wide security control and tooling to improve our security posture while enabling rapid and secure business growth. You will also work closely with cross functional teams to ensure that security is embedded into our SDLC, data protection strategies and information security systems. This is a hands-on, high impact role that combines architecture, engineering and enablement.

What You'll Do



  • Enable secure business growth and scalability by designing resilient, automated security architectures that support rapid product innovation balancing strong security controls with developer velocity and operational efficiency.
  • Design and enhance security tooling, integrating with CI/CD pipelines, logging platforms and cloud security architecture.
  • Develop reference architectures and technical standards for secure cloud deployments, container hardening, and access management that are disseminated and enforced across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to embed security into SDLC and production systems (DevSecOps, IaC scanning, SAST/DAST/SCA, etc.).
  • Evaluate control effectiveness alongside Security and cross functional teams to enable continuous improvement.
  • Provide advanced forensic and incident response expertise for priority security events and escalations, leveraging deep technical analysis to identify root cause, contain threats, and support post-incident remediation and control hardening.

  • Team Player with strong communication, organizational, and relationship management skills.

  • Ability to write and present articulated documentation and processes.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Deep technical expertise in cloud environments, including IAM, network security, posture alignment, and automation via Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of frameworks such as NIST 800-53, SOC 2, CIS Benchmarks, and Zero Trust Network Architecture.
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD security tooling.
  • Experience with cloud-native logging, monitoring and detection frameworks.
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in cybersecurity engineering or infrastructure/cloud security roles.
  • S./M.S. degree in cybersecurity, computer science or related technical field are a plus.
  • Professional certification preferred (e.g., GIAC, CISSP, Cloud Security Certifications or equivalent).

For Washington-based candidates, in compliance with the Washington State Pay Transparency Law, the salary range for this role is $150,000 - $195,000. DAT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education and training, core skills, internal equity, and market and business elements when extending an offer.
