Description:

Plans, directs, coordinates, and controls activities of workers engaged in production on a seasonal basis by performing the following duties:

Essential Functions:

  • Studies production schedules and estimates staffing, duty assignments and inventory requirements.
  • Helps to develop a process plan including people, resources, equipment, and floor space.
  • Applies work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Coordinates manpower requirements by increasing or decreasing personnel and overtime to meet changing conditions.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Responds to grievances in conjunction with facility HR and Production Manager, and works with subordinates and Production Manager to discuss and eliminate problems.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Actively participates in safety policies, activities and implementations.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
Minimum Requirements

Experience:

One to three years of experience in a manufacturing production environment with specific experience managing the production lines. Food industry experience preferred.

Education:

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception. May be required to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.

Mental Activities:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills. The employee will occasionally use interpersonal and customer service skills.
