| Essential Job Duties |
This role supports the Pharmacy Service at the Terry Center Companion Animal Hospital, ensuring safe, effective, and legally compliant drug therapy for all patients. The pharmacist serves as a key liaison between inpatient wards, clinical services, and Pharmacy Main, facilitating accurate medication preparation, labeling, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe handling of hazardous drugs and verify inpatient medication orders.
- Collaborate with the Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Committee to provide antimicrobial recommendations.
- Participate in clinical rounds to support accurate and safe drug therapy.
- Identify and report drug interactions and adverse events.
- Evaluate and improve pharmacy workflows and data systems (e.g., Instinct).
- Support formulary management and compound development.
- Provide advanced drug information and educational materials to clinical staff.
- Communicate inventory needs and purchasing details to relevant teams.
- Mentor pharmacy students and residents; supervise student activities and provide shadowing opportunities.

- Occasionally lecture veterinary students and deliver in-service training to hospital staff.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Licensed to practice Pharmacy in the state of North Carolina.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited school and completion of an ICVP-accredited PGY1 Veterinary Clinical Pharmacy Residency.
- Experience working in a veterinary pharmacy setting.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with interprofessional veterinary care teams.
- Strong communication skills with both customers and colleagues.
- Proficiency in MS Office products.
