GENERAL FUNCTION

The Snr Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the distribution activities for Instruments in North America. Key responsibilities include the management of a 3PL-managed facility in Chicago, to make sure the logistics provider executes all logistics activities respecting the service level agreement at the lowest possible cost, respecting the safety and quality standards. The Manager is also responsible for the direct supervision of all the Distribution Centers in US, and for the associated KPIs of service, cost and inventory accuracy.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

3PL and Vendor Management



  • Serve as the primary point of contact for 3PL provider, fostering strong, collaborative relationship
  • Manage service agreements (SLAs), ensuring targets are met and initiating recovery plans in case of need
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and audits of 3PL facilities to ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations (OSHA), and company policies
  • Integrate 3PL operations with internal systems (ERP/WMS) to ensure seamless data flow and end-to-end supply chain visibility


Internal Warehouse Operations Oversight



  • Direct and control internal warehouse activities to ensure efficient utilization of facilities for storing, handling, and distributing goods
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including receiving, inventory management, packing, and shipping processes
  • Develop, implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices across all internal warehouse locations
  • Ensure high levels of inventory accuracy through effective control programs, regular cycle counts, and reconciliations


Strategy and Continuous Improvement



  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize the entire logistics network, identifying areas for improvement and saving
  • Utilize data analysis and performance metrics (KPIs) to assess operational performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive data-driven decisions
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, potentially leveraging methodologies like TQM or Six Sigma, to enhance efficiency
  • Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies (automation, advanced WMS/TMS) to maintain a competitive and innovative logistics operation


Leadership and Collaboration



  • Lead, mentor, and develop own team, ensuring a high-performing and engaged team
  • Deep knowledge of business priorities, partnering with sales and service organization Extracts and analyze data (root causing) from the ERP to present findings in a clear and effective way
  • Manage department budgets and provide clear variance explanations to the finance team and snr management



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • 7-10 years' experience in logistics, creating controls, KPIs, optimizing transportation and warehousing processes
  • Experience working with 3PL
  • Strong in the system, from query to data analytics. Proficient in logistics software and tools, as well as Excel. Exposure to ERPs, such as Microsoft, SAP
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Project management
  • Excellent negotiation and communication abilities, verbal and written
  • Strong statistical and problem-solving skills
  • Well organized and able to handle detailed work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with high sense of urgency, resourcefulness, and adaptability



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Microsoft Great Plains experience
  • Exposure to ophthalmic instruments or similar medical devices preferred
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and continuous improvement tools


Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
