Mechanical Engineer

Seeking a Mechanical Engineer who has experience with the design of complicated and involved types of structural fabricated equipment from basic ideas, sketches, partially developed or variations of previous designs and performs these assignments under direct supervision. Reports to the Director of Engineering

Responsibilities:

• Create detailed CAD mechanical fabrication and assembly drawings for structural design projects.
• Update and revise mechanical fabrication and assembly CAD drawings for design projects under supervision of Project Engineer or Senior Designer.
• Update and revise mechanical CAD drawings for projects under supervision of project engineer or senior designer.
• Create fabrication drawings of average and complex parts and assemblies.
• Participates in design process as a team member.
• Prepare project specific engineering bill of material for review by project engineer.
• Provide assistance and guidance to Production Department during factory assembly of project equipment.
• Provide assistance to Quality Assurance Department during factory testing to resolve any technical problems / issues which may have been discovered.

Skills and Abilities:

• General understanding and training using CAD software design. (Knowledge of DesignCAD brand CAD software preferred).
• Trained in use of commercial software programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
• General knowledge and understanding of published industry standards relating to the design and testing of medium and high voltage switchgear assemblies preferred.
• General knowledge in the design of large / heavy gauge structural equipment including but not limited to the development of fabrication drawings and welding techniques.

Preferred Experience:

• Entry level to Two (2) years' experience in design of large / heavy gauge structural fabricated equipment.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
