JOB SUMMARY

An Assembler at Doble Engineering will produce components by assembling parts and subassemblies. In this role the individual will be required to follow blueprints, determine material measurements, and take responsibility for fabricating parts used in later assembly processes and will also be responsible for the quality of your output. This role will be based at Doble's Accident, Maryland facility reporting to the Production Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
  • Reads and deciphers schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions.
  • Positions or aligns components and parts, manually or with hoists.
  • Uses hand tools or machines to assemble parts.
  • Conducts quality control checks.
  • Prepares work by studying parts lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Fits and assembles gears, sprockets, drive shafts, bearings, etc.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
  • Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
  • Conserves materials by minimizing waste.
  • Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects.
  • Maintains inventory of completed products.
  • Identifies and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Follows safety regulations such as wearing protective face coverings/glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
  • Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of required level of education.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:



  • 2 years of assembly experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly.
  • Proficiency in math.
  • Working knowledge of safety protocols.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced team environment.
  • Good mechanical assembly skills similar to a mechanic.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):



  • Formal apprenticeship or vocational training as an assembler is preferred.


  • Working knowledge of how to set up and operate CNC lathes or mills
  • Understanding of blueprints, drawings, and models


  • Knowledge of inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
  • Basic computer skills.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers and customers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds. Must use assistance when lifting 50 or more pounds.

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
Hourly Pay Range Minimum $17.14 - Midpoint $21.42
