Tool & Die Specialist, Model Y, Plastics

As a Tool & Die Specialist, you will support die-set maintenance and tooling changes for productionin the Plastics department. The ideal candidates will possess excellent craftsmanship, the ability totroubleshoot, and a commitment to safety and production goals.

• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and tooling changes for production die-sets
• Support the design and implementation of tooling changes to accommodate part modifications
• Maintain and manage die-set preventative maintenance (PM) system, including scheduling and updating work instructions
• Troubleshoot defects and support the preparation of die check sheets and trial procedures
• Maintain die-set spare parts lists, ensuring parts are stocked and readily available
• Develop and implement systems to reduce defects, improve productivity, and minimize downtime
• Collaborate on Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify risks and create control plans for production dies

• 3+ years of hands-on experience working in mold maintenance and repair (i.e., hot runner system, slide or core action limit switches, SVG cylinders). Apprenticeship certification in Tool & Die or equivalent experience
• Experience with high-speed die-sets, including tooling material selection, and knowledge of CNC die surface machining, welding, and spotting
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles (waste elimination, continuous improvement, Just-in-Time, etc.)
• Ability to interpret dimensional inspection results (CMM, checking fixture, or vision systems)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and strong analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team, managing tight deadlines and competing priorities
• Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
