Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
Facilities Operations has the responsibility of providing a wide range of services to all administrative departments, student programs, and all academic schools and departments. Services include all aspects of corrective and preventive maintenance, operations, grounds maintenance, housekeeping, utility infrastructure maintenance and operations, business operations, safety, regulatory compliance, project management, and renovations. These duties are conducted for a campus consisting of over 100 buildings totaling 6 million gross square feet on over 275 acres.
Position Summary
The Electronic Specialist - Advanced position ensures high quality installation, maintenance, and operation/performance of the University's telecommunications systems. The Electronic Specialist has responsibility for installing, maintaining, and servicing a variety of telephone equipment, installing voice and data communication circuits, security systems, security cameras, panic systems, door access, fire alarm communication, elevator communications, and associated cabling. The Electronic Specialist is responsible for organizing and completing the technical day-to-day operations assigned through work orders and servicing trouble calls. The Electronic Specialist also performs technical and skilled work in the installation, maintenance, testing, calibration, and communication to BAS of all utility meters. This to include electrical, water, chilled water, and steam to insure accurate readings for energy usage logging and billing. This position also performs hardware and software preventive maintenance, repairs, and improvements. This position will reside in the Life Safety shop and report to the Lead Fire Alarm Tech.

This is a mandatory position as defined in the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event policy. Mandatory employees are expected to report to or remain at work during adverse weather and emergency events and, if deemed necessary, to work a different schedule or shift than normally assigned. This position may also be required to participate in the On-Call and Emergency Callback program as outlined in the Facilities Operations Standard Operating Procedure.
Minimum Qualifications

ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE IN ELECTRONICS; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

  • Five to seven (5-7) years of direct or related experience and a minimum of an Associate's degree or two year college equivalent preferred.
