The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Grade: Technical 408 Pay Range: $116,000.00 - $174,100.00

Job Description

Job Duties

  • Manages and supports LAN and WAN network devices.
  • Manages and supports Internet access and security appliances.
  • Manages and supports remote and wireless access.
  • Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.
  • Escalates network problems to appropriate vendors and/or internal personnel.
  • Manages technology planning through ongoing research and consulting.
  • Architects, plans, implements and supports the voice, data, and wireless network and computing infrastructure.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

KSAs

  • Knowledge of switching (Capacity Planning & VLAN's) and routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
  • Knowledge of WAN Technology (MPLS, VPLS, VPN) and Voice Technology (VOIP, QOS, SIP)
  • Skilled at large scale wireless deployments
  • Ability to use security software, including anti-virus, anti-spam, and anti-spyware
  • Knowledgeable in application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, and Microsoft AD) and possesses an understanding of how to support these applications/protocols when accessed through VPN and firewall appliances.
  • Knowledge of load balancing technologies (F5, ELB) and network automation (Cisco ACI, VRO)
  • Knowledge of VMware for server virtualization
  • Knowledge and experience with IPv4, IPv6, TCP, HSRP/GLBP, IPSEC, VPN, DNS, and HTTP
  • Energetic self-starter
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Thorough and gives attention to detail
  • Ability to be 'on-call' for period tasks outside of normal working hours.
  • Ability to travel
  • Knowledge of power management

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 8 years of network administration experience
  • Vendor Certifications (CCNA/CCNP)
  • Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

Position & Application Details
