Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Azure Admin with our client located in Austin, TX. This is a 12+ month contract position.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for all Business Services application infrastructure and Azure services
- Manage, monitor, and optimize all Azure resources supporting the division including PaaS services, Azure SQL databases, App Services, and related components
- Ensure 24/7 availability and performance of hosting environments through proactive monitoring and maintenance
- Implement and maintain automated monitoring, alerting, and diagnostic capabilities for application health and performance
- Manage Azure resource configurations, scaling policies, and performance optimization strategies
- Oversee patching, updates, and maintenance windows for all Azure infrastructure
- Serve as escalation point for all technical issues and incidents
- Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and platform issues affecting application availability or performance
- Perform root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventive measures
- Coordinate incident response activities with development partners, business stakeholders, and IT team members
- Maintain detailed incident documentation and contribute to knowledge base articles
- Provide after-hours support for critical production issues
- Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive backup and recovery strategies for all Business Services application data and infrastructure
- Coordinate with business stakeholders to understand recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO) requirements
- Regularly test backup and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity capabilities
- Maintain disaster recovery documentation and runbooks
- Implement and manage solutions for application resilience
- Ensure compliance with data retention policies and regulatory requirements
- Monitor and optimize Azure spending for application infrastructure
- Implement cost-saving measures through rightsizing, reserved instances, and resource optimization
- Provide regular cost analysis and forecasting reports to management
- Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs without sacrificing performance or reliability
- Manage resource tagging strategies for accurate cost allocation and reporting
- Serve as primary technical contact for business stakeholders regarding application infrastructure
- Provide regular status updates on infrastructure health, performance metrics, and ongoing initiatives
- Communicate planned maintenance, changes, and potential impacts to relevant stakeholders
- Prepare and present technical reports, capacity planning analysis, and infrastructure recommendations
- Facilitate technical discussions with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Assess architectural needs and provide sound recommendations for Azure infrastructure improvements and enhancements
- Design and implement scalable, resilient, and secure Azure solutions that align with application requirements and business objectives
- Collaborate with third-party development teams to ensure hosting environments meet application specifications and development needs
- Evaluate and recommend Azure services and features that improve application performance, reliability, or cost-efficiency
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and infrastructure designs
- Maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, including infrastructure diagrams, data flow diagrams, and configuration standards
- Facilitate technical discussions regarding infrastructure requirements, deployment processes, and environment configurations
- Partners with third-party development company for all infrastructure and hosting matters
- Coordinate deployment activities, release schedules, and environment provisioning with development teams
- Ensure development team has appropriate access, tools, and environments needed for successful application delivery
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience managing and supporting Azure cloud environments
- Minimum 5 years of experience specifically with Azure PaaS services and Azure SQL Database
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Demonstrated experience as a dedicated resource for specific applications or product lines
- Proven track record supporting production applications in a managed service provider or hosting environment
- Experience coordinating with external development teams and vendors
- Experience with business continuity planning and disaster recovery implementation
- Background in capacity planning and performance optimization for cloud applications
- Deep understanding of Microsoft Azure platform services (PaaS)
- Azure App Services, Azure Functions, and serverless computing
- Azure SQL Database, including performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery
- Azure Storage services (Blob, File, Queue, Table)
- Azure networking, including VNets, NSGs, Application Gateway, and Azure Front Door
- Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
- Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipeline integration
- Strong architectural assessment capabilities with ability to make sound technical recommendations
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure and application platform issues
- Experience working with third-party development teams in a managed hosting environment
- Excellent understanding of backup and disaster recovery strategies in Azure
- Strong knowledge of Azure security best practices, including Azure Security Center, Key Vault, and identity management
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Bicep, or Terraform
- Experience with PowerShell and Azure CLI for automation and scripting
- Understanding of database administration principles, performance tuning, and optimization for Azure SQL
- Knowledge of monitoring and alerting best practices for cloud applications
- Familiarity with ITIL framework, particularly Incident and Change Management processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
- Customer service orientation with focus on meeting business needs
- Budget awareness and cost optimization mindset

Pay range: $70.00 - $90.00
