Overview

The Geospatial Consultant plays a critical role in bridging technical geospatial expertise with strategic sales initiatives, specifically focused on government clients. This position supports the sales organization by providing subject matter expertise in geospatial technologies, understanding client needs, and delivering tailored solutions that align with government objectives and regulatory frameworks.

Work Environment:

    Location is flexible: NV5 Regional Offices or work from home considered
  • Travel < 30% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement & Relationship Management
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to government clients, understanding their geospatial needs and challenges.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with federal government agencies.
    • Translate client requirements into actionable solutions using geospatial technologies.
  • Sales Support & Strategy
    • Collaborate with account executives to develop and present geospatial solutions during pre-sales and proposal phases.
    • Assist in crafting compelling value propositions and technical responses for RFPs and RFIs.
    • Conduct product demonstrations, workshops, and presentations tailored to government audiences.
  • Solution Design & Technical Expertise
    • Design and recommend geospatial solutions using GIS, remote sensing, spatial analytics, and data visualization tools.
    • Stay current with industry trends, government regulations, and emerging technologies in geospatial science.
    • Provide feedback to product and engineering teams based on client interactions and market needs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Liaise between sales, product development, and delivery teams to ensure client expectations are met.
    • Support post-sales implementation and ensure smooth handoff to delivery teams.


Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, GIS, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in geospatial consulting, preferably with government clients.
  • Strong understanding of GIS platforms (e.g., Esri, QGIS), spatial databases, and data visualization tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working within or selling to government agencies is highly preferred.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.

Experience/Skills Preferred (in addition to requirements):

  • Familiarity with government procurement processes and compliance standards.
  • Experience with cloud-based geospatial platforms and APIs.
  • Knowledge of federal data standards and spatial data infrastructure (SDI).
