Position Summary:


SkyWater Technology is seeking an Art Director to lead our visual brand identity and run an inhouse design function that serves the company. You will own the brand identity (logo, typography, color, iconography, illustration, photography style) and apply it across website, investor communications, internal communications, internal branding, executive presentations, marketing collateral, sales presentations and materials, social media assets, video production and editing, and trade show design. This role both creates and executes all design work driving consistency, speed, and quality from brief to delivery. The ideal candidate will be skilled at translating complex, technical subject matter into clear, compelling visuals.


The role reports to the Senior Director of Corporate Communications ensuring seamless execution of the SkyWater brand.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Brand leadership



  • Refresh and govern a cohesive brand identity (logo, iconography, typography, color, illustration, photography/motion guidelines) and ensure consistent usage across all touchpoints.
  • Build and maintain a brand guidelines site and template library; train and enable internal contributors and vendors.
  • Serve as creative lead and reviewer for all visual content; establish QA and accessibility standards (contrast, legibility, alt text, captions).


Design operations & project management



  • Intake, scope, schedule, and track all design projects (briefs, timelines, resourcing, approvals) to ensure materials are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Manage external partners including freelancers or agencies as needed; own creative budgets and SOWs.
  • Maintain all digital assets; organize source files and final assets for reuse.


Priority deliverables



  • Website redesign: Lead UX/UI and visual system for corporate site refresh; partner with IT/SEO for performance, accessibility, and analytics; oversee build with internal or external devs.
  • Investor communications: Design investor day visuals, earnings/IR decks, fact sheets, and event graphics that translate complex topics clearly and compliantly.
  • Internal communications: Create AllHands/leadership decks, SharePoint graphics, digital signage/TV loops, facility/environmental branding, posters, internal brand identity.
  • Executive presentations: Build polished keynote narratives and templates for leadership team to elevate storytelling for industry events.
  • PPT Slides: Establish enterprisewide templates, masters, icon sets, and a component library; coach power users.
  • Marketing collateral: Datasheets, brochures, case studies, onepagers, white papers, infographics, email banners, landing pages.
  • Sales enablement: Pitch decks, product/solution visuals, leavebehinds, proposal templates; ensure version control.
  • Social & content design: Create post/previews, carousels, stories, animations, and channelspecific adaptations; coordinate with content calendar.
  • Video & motion: Storyboard, direct, and edit short videos for web, social, and internal meetings.
  • Blog/longform content: Visualize technical stories via diagrams, charts, and illustrations; ensure brand voice in imagery.
  • Trade show/event design: Lead booth visual presence, redesigns, largeformat graphics, demos, and onsite collateral.


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelors Degree is required
  • 8+ years of professional design experience with 3+ years leading brand or art direction in B2B tech/industrial/manufacturing (semiconductor experience a plus).
  • Demonstrated success refreshing or building a scalable brand identity and rolling it out across web design, print, and digital.
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere) and presentation tools (PowerPoint).
  • Solid understanding of UX fundamentals, responsive design, and web accessibility (WCAG basics).
  • Motion/video chops: storyboarding, simple animation, and editing for shortform content.
  • Production expertise: print specifications, prepress, color management, largeformat, and vendor coordination.
  • Structured project management skills; comfortable owning briefs, timelines, budgets, and crossfunctional approvals.
  • Portfolio that translates complex, technical subject matter into clear, compelling visuals.
  • U.S. Citizen Required: This position will require the holding of or ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance which requires U.S Citizenship.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Systems thinker with high craft standards and an editorial eye.
  • Comfortable operating as a builder-standing up processes, tools, and libraries from scratch.
  • Clear communicator who can brief, present, and defend creative decisions to executives and engineers alike.

The annual salary range for this role is $129,040- $193,560. Pay offered is based on many factors including, but not limited to, the job-related experience, skills, education, and credentials of each candidate.
