Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is$78,200.00 to$130,400.00.

Position Details

The Senior Import Compliance Analyst partners with 3rd party Customs Brokers and relevant import compliance teams to develop meaningful measures of broker performance, providing recommendations to address performance gaps, and auditing broker work to ensure quality. The role will audit product customs classifications (HTS US, Canadian HS) to ensure accuracy. The analyst provides guidance, resolves issues, independently manages projects and ensures the smooth flow of products internationally. The position is Hybrid requiring 2 days per week in office one day of which must be in the Grainger Lake Forest, IL headquarters.

You Will

  • Continuously reviews, analyzes and communicates relevant U.S. import regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Ensures import transactions are compliant with U.S. Government regulations by executing post-entry audits on import transactions and supporting quarterly external audits.
  • Leads and oversees key import programs such as CTPAT Security and Trade Compliance Program, Duty Drawback and Periodic Statement processing.
  • Manages the response on Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inquiries.
  • Conducts analyses on updated duties and tariffs to assess business impact, ensures entry into the database, and updates duty rate changes to Finance.
  • Reviews the audit plan continuously and performs risk assessments on imports to adjust the audit focus on areas with the greatest risk and potential exposure.
  • Communicates audit results to Global Trade Compliance leadership, Customs brokers and other teams as needed to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Leads the identification of root cause of issues raised and partner with relevant teams to eliminate future occurrences.; monitors and reports on repeated deficiencies.

You Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or logistics, or equivalent related experience required
  • 3+ years in customs work with demonstrated understanding and knowledge of customs regulations (CBSA and US CBP) at another large importer or broker required
  • 3+ years in international supply chain logistics in a large organization required
  • Demonstrated mastery of U.S. import regulations, including areas such as classification, valuation, free trade agreements, special import programs (anti-dumping and countervailing/SIMA cases), PGAs, entry process
  • Strong understanding and experience with CTPAT Security and Trade Compliance Programs
  • Proven ability to adapt, prioritize and multi-task in a rapidly changing environment
  • Proven project management skills, methodology, organization, and ability to drive projects to completion
  • Strong attention to detail to review large numbers of complex import transactions on on-going basis
  • Continuous Improvement focus; ability to articulate a problem and identify the root cause
  • Licensed customs broker and/or certified customs specialist. Upon Hire required
