Overview

We are seeking a Patient Care Assistant, sometimes referred to as a Nurse Aide Our Patient Care Assistant (Telemetry PCA) will work in our hospital's med/surg unit, providing general patient care.

Shifts Available: Days

Employment Type: Full Time

Hours: 12-hour shifts - 7:30am to 7:30pm

Location:Dallas Medical Center - Farmers Branch, TX

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Support patients with daily living activities, deliver basic nursing care, and help maintain a safe environment while working under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse overseeing the team or unit
  • Carry out general PCA responsibilities such as recording vital signs, assisting with bathing, feeding, toileting, repositioning, collecting specimens, and transporting patients while maintaining monitoring connections
  • Monitor telemetry equipment, observe rhythm strips, recognize alarms, and alert nurses to changes such as arrhythmias or abnormal heart rates
  • Assist with lead and wire care, replace or secure connections, ensure monitors stay accurate and troubleshoot any issues that may interrupt monitoring
  • Document patient activities and vital information in charts, report abnormal findings quickly, and offer emotional reassurance to reduce anxiety in patients being monitored for heart conditions


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate required.
  • Current BLS (AHA)
  • Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital preferred.
