Job Purpose

Key Accountabilities

The primary responsibilities of the position may include, but is not limited to, the following processes within a GIS environment:

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of National Grid's GIS map that is utilized to access geographical data across downstate New York.
  • Assist Supervisor of Mapping with training, monitoring, and developing personnel, as well as other varied assigned duties in the Maps and Records department as required.
  • Assist with mapping functions performed in the field onto the Geographic Information System with extreme attention to detail.
  • Perform a variety of analytical tasks to maintain the connectivity and structural integrity of the mapped gas facility network.
  • Review, approval and post maps and records projects.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the backlog databases daily into National Grid GIS applications to ensure timely delivery of information and safe operation of public gas facilities while meeting regulatory requirements and maximizing cost recovery returns.
  • Generate and update various reports as required to monitor performance against Line-of-Sight deliverables which include Safety, KPI's & Compliance metrics.
  • Assist Supervisor of Mapping in Performance Excellence. Ensuring the Department is meeting requisite goals, identifying concerns and causes of deficiencies, and recommending and implementing improvement opportunities in Maps & Records.
  • Assist in the design and development of quality assurance/quality system practices and procedures in upstream gas Work Order processes to drive improvement on cycle time deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Must communicate effectively, follow direction, and work independently.
  • Proficient with ESRI'S ArcGIS Pro.
  • Extreme attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Motivation to meet or exceed internal expectations for productivity, performance, and quality.
  • Ability to build strong relationships through communication and collaboration with Field Staff, Engineering, and other departments to work efficiently and effectively.
  • Proficiency in basic math, geometry, and mapping concepts.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Associate's degree in GIS or related engineering fields
  • GISP Certificate (Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional)
  • Work experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.

Downstate NY Salary: $76,000 - $89,000 a year

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
