Shipping Clerk/Truck Driver

Responsible for picking up, transporting, and delivering materials on interfacility truck. Perform a variety of administrative, storekeeping, distribution and warehouse functions in a multi-facility shipping environment.

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Inventory duties include receiving, stocking and issuing parts and assemblies, storekeeping, inventory control and cycle counting, document control and scanning.

  • Shipping duties include performing basic and specialized packaging and labeling activities per shipping best practices and shipping check list instructions.

  • Independently perform inventory control and shipping activities which support production, inventory control objectives and customer shipments.

  • Print a variety of inventory and shipping reports, inventory tags and unit container labels.

  • Follow and update work orders and shipping documents.

  • Schedule and track shipments through the internal shipping process.

  • Match shipping documents and stage physical shipments for carrier pick up.

  • Train and assist with creating shipping pack slips, documents and labels, and freight bills.

  • Train and assist with access and update of customer and freight carrier portals.

  • Identify variances and participate in problem research and resolution.

  • Possess a solid understanding of internal computer applications for inquiry, report generation, department documentation, data entry, scanning and problem solving.

  • Train co-workers on basic shipping tasks and be accountable for accuracy of work.

  • Contribute to the development of 5 S practices, environmental objectives and safety awareness of the cell.

  • Operate forklifts and other automated and manually-operated equipment.

  • Work with limited oversight.

  • Relevant computer experience including Microsoft Office.

  • Basic understanding of router operations and sketches. Knows when to stop and ask for clarification.

  • Legible handwriting, organizational ability, attention to detail, and accuracy in the handling of parts and maintaining records.

  • Strong communication skills, proven ability in recognizing variances, problem solving, and a track record of exercising good judgment in making decisions and handling exceptions.

Physical Requirements

Ability to physically move parts from work center to work center and through inventory control and shipping process and to assemble and re-configure racks, furniture and equipment in the shipping cell and storage locations. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing and handling of material.

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $21.00/hr to $28.45/hr
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
