Description

The Assistant Team Leader, Stroger Crisis reports to the Team Leader of the program. The Assistant Team Leader shares a leadership role and daily supervision of crisis workers performing risk assessments in an emergency department setting. The Assistant Team Leader is responsible for the direct supervision of assigned team members in order to ensure quality service delivery to patients and effective collaboration with Cook County Health and Hospital System (CCHHS) personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Supervise, guide and direct staff as assigned. Models sound clinical judgment in performing crisis assessments to patients in an emergency department setting. Assesses large volumes of patients, makes recommendations for appropriate treatment, and connects patients with the appropriate level of mental health care.
  • Meet with assigned team members to problem solve, train, monitor and guide their clinical assessment skills, ability to form a working diagnosis, and make appropriate treatment recommendations.
  • Discuss with Team Leader, the activities of team staff members providing crisis services in the Emergency Department (ED).
  • Responsible for role-modeling effective collaboration and communication with Cook County Health and Hospital System (CCHHS) personnel including physicians, nurses, and other behavioral health staff.
  • Meets required billing targets and completes all documentation within assigned timeframe.
  • Assist Team Leader with the daily monitoring of patient data, patient flow, and insurance eligibility and assists in collating this information into monthly reports for CCHHS and Thresholds leadership.
  • Responsible to maintain the substitute staff pool, communicate regularly about coverage opportunities,
    ensure that subs remain current on all trainings, and maintain compliance with CCHHS contractor
    requirements.
  • Monitor all required paperwork. Maintains the quality, validity and confidentiality of individual case records according to Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Medicare, Medicaid standards and agency traditions. Assures that all patient files and documentation are completed accurately, on time and is organized in a systematic manner.
  • Assists TL in tracking employee compliance with required medical screening at time of hire and ongoing annually to ensure crisis workers maintain access to the ED. Works with CCHHS Human Resources to ensure that Thresholds maintains all credentialing requirements.
  • Participates in the hiring sequence of the agency, and make recommendations on the hiring or termination of team staff.
  • Assists with special tasks as assigned, including but not limited to: representing the agency at meetings, conferences, supervising students/interns, orienting and training new staff.
  • Supports TL in maintaining 24/7 coverage in the ED.
  • Required to be on-call 24/7; rotation schedule is shared with the Team Leader.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 10:30am-7:00pm


MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Willingness to submit to annual TB tests and drug tests annually as well as required vaccines.
  • Works flexible schedule including work on weekends or evenings as required.


EDUCATION



  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology or closely related field is required.


EXPERIENCE



  • Two (2) years clinical experience.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Ability to synthesize and summarize information and make judgments regarding patient care.
  • Computer proficiency, including the ability to use email, navigate and enter notes into electronic medical records and working knowledge of pertinent software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of group dynamics required.


SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS



  • Either an LSW or LPC is preferred.
