Apply proven management skills and experience in accounting and financial controls to lead accounting staff who support multiple locations. Oversee daily, monthly, and yearly accounting activities, including associated analysis and reporting. Establish, maintain, and streamline financial records and processes to ensure accurate and timely presentation of financial results. Evaluate and make improvements to accounting processes while ensuring that practices comply with organization accounting policies and applicable laws and regulations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Manage a department of accounting professionals who prepare and examine financial records and ensure compliance with financial reporting and other standard accounting procedures
  • Oversee and/or complete the monthly close process and ensure journal entries are reconciled, reviewed, and have appropriate supporting documentation
  • Oversee the preparation and/or produce reports including but not limited to earnings, profits/losses, regulatory, monthly milk, and cost accounting. Ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting of all financial results
  • Analyze, track, and submit to Corporate all capital projects
  • Work with and support internal/external audit to ensure all controls are in place and any discrepancies noted are corrected or have a measurable action plan in place to correct the discrepancies
  • Provide advice and counsel interested parties as needed
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the operations team as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges
  • Ensure effective and proper internal controls are in place and functioning appropriately
  • Collaborate with the Financial Planning and Analysis group(s) in matters related to budgeting, forecasting and variance financial analysis
  • Review, investigate, and report to management any material variances between budgeted and actual amounts
  • Prepare and submit monthly business summaries, including insightful business commentaries detailing issues, opportunities, and action plans. Interpret accounts and records to upper management
  • Participate in monthly business reviews with division or other management
  • Enhance and/or develop and implement area policies, procedures and systems to improve the overall operational effectiveness and profitability of the area
  • Present recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies
  • Work with direct reports as a coach and partner to effectively manage their performance. Conduct formal performance conversations and hold direct reports accountable for results; work with them to cultivate their capabilities and utilize their strengths
  • Perform management duties such as work delegation and review, performance management and development, technical direction and guidance, and mentoring and training

Education and Experience:



  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting work experience coupled with 2+ years of supervisory or management experience
  • Dairy industry experience preferred
  • Certification and/or License - CPA preferred
