Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Director, Cyber & Technology Resilience to lead and strengthen the organization's ability to withstand and recover from cyber and technology disruptions. This role will be responsible for building and overseeing the organization's technology resilience governance, frameworks, disaster recovery (DR) testing coordination, and DR test environment build-out. The Senior Director will spearhead efforts to ensure the organization's critical systems and technology infrastructure are prepared to recover quickly and effectively in the face of cyber incidents, system failures, or other disruptions.

Reporting to the Vice President of Information Security, this role will collaborate across IT, cybersecurity, business continuity, and enterprise risk management teams to align resilience strategies with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Technology Resilience Governance:

  • Establish and lead aTechnology Resilience Governance Programto drive accountability and oversight for resilience strategies across the organization.

  • Develop and implement governance processes to ensure alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 22301, ITIL).

  • Build cross-functional relationships with business and IT leaders to integrate resilience considerations into technology planning, budgeting, and operations.

  • Chair or participate in resilience-focused committees or working groups to ensure consistent oversight of resilience initiatives.

Technology Resilience Framework:

  • Design, implement, and maintain aTechnology Resilience Frameworkto ensure the organization's critical systems and infrastructure can withstand, recover from, and adapt to disruptions.

  • Define resilience objectives, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for technology systems.

  • Align the framework with organizational business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) strategies.

  • Continuously update the framework to address emerging threats, technology advancements, and lessons learned from incidents or exercises.

Disaster Recovery (DR) Test Coordination:

  • Develop and oversee aDisaster Recovery Testing Programto validate the organization's ability to recover critical technology systems during disruptions.

  • Coordinate and facilitateDR testing activities, including tabletop exercises, live simulations, and full-scale recovery tests.

  • Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, and business continuity teams to define test objectives, scenarios, and success criteria.

  • Ensure that testing schedules, plans, and results are communicated and aligned with business priorities and regulatory requirements.

  • Document and track issues identified during DR tests and ensure timely remediation or mitigation.

Disaster Recovery Test Environment Build-Out Facilitation:

  • Lead and oversee the planning and build-out ofDR test environments, ensuring they accurately replicate production systems.

  • Collaborate with IT and infrastructure teams to provision resources (e.g., storage, compute, networking) required for DR testing.

  • Ensure DR test environments are designed to support a wide range of scenarios, including cyberattacks, system failures, and data corruption.

  • Advocate for investments in tools and technologies necessary to enhance DR testing capabilities.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership to the Cyber/Technology Resilience team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

  • Act as the organization's subject matter expert on technology resilience, advising senior leadership on risks and strategies to enhance preparedness.

  • Partner with IT, security, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment between resilience initiatives and broader organizational priorities.

  • Develop and mentor team members, building a high-performing resilience-focused organization.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Business Continuity, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

  • 10+ years of experience in technology or cyber resilience, disaster recovery, business continuity, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams or programs.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of resilience frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 22301, ITIL, COBIT).

  • Proven experience designing and implementing technology resilience programs, including governance and frameworks.

  • Expertise in disaster recovery processes, testing methodologies, and recovery technologies (e.g., backup, replication, cloud recovery).

  • Familiarity with modern IT environments, including cloud-based systems, hybrid architecture, and DevOps practices.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate complex initiatives across multiple teams and stakeholders.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with executives, technical teams, and business leaders.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

  • ITIL Foundation or higher

  • Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII) certifications (e.g., Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP))

*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Minnesota/Massachusetts/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
