Description
The Director of Manufacturing Operations manages the entire operations department overseeing resources, staffing, and the enhancement and maintenance of a first-class team. The Director of Manufacturing Operations is also in charge of the management and execution of project plans and delivery commitments. The Director of Manufacturing Operations should build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Director of Manufacturing Operations is in charge of team building and provides manufacturing leadership for the design and implementation of features and product enhancements. In the leadership capacity, the Director of Manufacturing Operations develops, implements, and maintains operational standards and policies. This includes leading the efforts for lean implementation and processes including kaizens, Gemba walks, and other process improvements. This role also acts as mentor to key development personnel, assisting in the execution of duties upon request, and readying these key personnel for the occupation of this position. STRATEGY: The Director of Manufacturing Operations drives the strategy, process improvements, and product rationalization of the business's product solutions. In this capacity, the Director of Manufacturing Operations utilizes lean tools and philosophies to improve process increasing Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity while decreasing Costs. The Director of Manufacturing Operations role is responsible for the manufacturing department budgets (operating budget and capital budget). Therefore, planning for future growth and opportunities is required. Budgets should be aligned with the Strategic Plan (SDP). COLLABORATION: The Director of Manufacturing Operations plays a highly collaborative role and works closely with the senior leadership in defining long-term organizational strategies and roadmaps. In this collaboration, this role also coordinates and communicates development activities and priorities with the senior engineering leadership in order to ensure the successful completion of project objectives. KNOWLEDGE: The Director of Manufacturing Operations takes initiative to explore and implement innovative processes using the lean approach (i.e. kaizen). The Director of Manufacturing Operations provides support and leadership to development departments, facilitating continuous evolution in the development teams. The Director of Manufacturing Operations follows up on the business procedures, policies, and associated tools in order to develop processes that are more efficient and ensure conformity with the business's policies and overall objectives.
