Responsibilities

The Quality Auditor Remote position is responsible for performing quality audits and regulatory compliance monitoring in manufactured home plants or other factory-built housing environments. During the audits, this position evaluates the effectiveness and adequacy of third-party agencies that oversee quality assurance programs and determines construction compliance with the code.

This remote position requires travel nationwide, as much as 80% of the time, to conduct these field-based audit activities. A typical work week entails traveling to the audit site on Monday and returning home on Friday.

The Quality Auditor primarily receives directions from the Project Manager. The Quality Auditor may, from time-to-time, be asked to take a lead role in providing other services such as inspections, research, or similar technical services relevant.

    Demonstrates expertise in manufactured housing related construction codes and standards.
  • Performs audits and inspections and prepares corresponding reports.
  • Conducts periodic quality control reviews of inspection reports.
  • Uses approved construction designs; quality assurance manuals; testing protocols; storage procedures; product manufacturer installations, and inspection procedures to evaluate a manufactured home manufacturer's ability to produce compliant homes.
  • Monitors and evaluates the compliance of all building systems (i.e., structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and thermal envelope) and components of the manufactured home.
  • Understands how to use testing equipment and devices, such as moisture meters and electrical testers, to ensure the respective building components are acceptable.
  • Assists in performing root cause analyses for all compliance-related issues, follows up on outstanding corrective action activities, and develops recommendations for improving the manufacturers' quality assurance programs.
  • Analyzes field data, tracks trends, and collects data during visits to the offices of the third-party agencies to support the writing of performance evaluation reports.
  • Reviews and identifies potential failures to conform in the approved construction designs.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining internal processes, procedures, and work instructions for audit staff.
  • Develops and presents internal and external training sessions on technical areas and other key topics.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate degree in Building Construction Technology, Engineering, Engineering Technology or Engineering-related field (preferred).

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant auditing experience.
  • At least five (5) years of general building/construction industry experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in managing projects.

Certifications:

  • American Society of Quality Certified Quality Auditor certification or willing to obtain it within six (6) months of hire.
  • International Code Council certifications required, residential building code certifications at a minimum.

  • Detail-oriented, specifically, as it relates to compiling factual data to support all findings, concerns, recommendations.
  • Fundamental understanding of quality management systems and the principles of effective quality assurance programs.
  • Excellent customer services skills to manage both the client and auditees' expectations.
  • Represent the organization in a professional, ethical, and consistent manner.
  • Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Competency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
