Overview

Under the direction of the Bulk Material Manager, the Shift Supervisor supports the production activities of the Riceboro Plants so the plants can produce quality products at the least cost, and consistent with delivery schedules and in compliance to company and government regulations. The supervisor monitors day to day operations for efficiency and safety, ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are met, and develops loading and unloading of raw material schedules to meet internal goals as well as expectations of customers. The supervisor also directs Bulk Raw Material staff, including training of personnel.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all personnel are accountable for HSSE responsibilities including safety meetings, toolbox meetings, incident/accident reporting, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive action item closure, housekeeping, Process Safety Management, etc.
- Directly supervising the activities of the Bulk Material personnel charged with loading/offloading raw materials, finished product and wastes. (Flocryl)
- Train new and existing employees and provide required documentation in a timely manner.
- Assisting the Bulk Material Manager in the scheduling of all truck and railcar shipments.
- Assisting the Bulk Material Manager with personnel scheduling.
- Safely operating the onsite Track mobile. (Flocryl)
- Writing Safe Work, Line Break, Hot Work, and Confined-Space Entry Permits for loading/offloading related equipment.
- Ensuring that shipments are handled in accordance with SNF policy and procedures.
- Assisting the Bulk Material Manager in communicating with Customer Service regarding all finished product shipments.
- Ensuring all process supplies, raw materials, and finished products are received and shipped in accordance with the Quality Management System.
- Assisting the Bulk Material Manager in tracking inventory of raw materials.
- Contributing to site security by adhering to all policies set forth in SAF-018.
- Supporting the SNF RCMS policy and principles through the effective execution of each program and procedure that affects the continuing safety of each stakeholder, our impact on the environment, and the security of our stakeholders, site, raw materials, and finished products.
- Maintaining the confidentiality of the company's products, customers and proprietary information.
- Must be able to complete and maintain the following training:
- HAZWOPER - 40 hours, initial
- HAZWOPER Refresher - 8 hours annual
- RCRA - Annual
- DOT - Initial and every 3 years after
- IMDG- Initial and every 3 years after
- Fall Protection- Initial and every 3 years after
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Chemistry or Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent preferred or,
- 12 months as Bulk Material Technician, Production Technician, or Team Leader or,
- 1-3 years of chemical manufacturing leadership.
EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years of chemical manufacturing experience. REQUIREMENTS:
Mechanical/Trouble-shooting Skills and high degree of Safety Awareness. OSHA PSM covered chemical manufacturing experience. Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma exposure. Superior communication (verbal & written); ability to motivate, prioritize, and organize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to address issues, follow up and implement solutions as required. Demonstrated ability to work within teams as well as lead teams. Demonstrates exceptional ability and willingness to learn, and a good work attitude. Good logical and organizational skills. Ability to perform the arithmetic used in the daily plant operations. Unit operations and trouble-shooting techniques. Microsoft Office Applications, including Word, Excel, and Power Point. Must be able to able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing utilizing the English language. Ability to learn and understand manufacturing process. Know how to maintain Key Performance Indicators Work effectively with all levels of the organization.
