Position Summary

The Vice President, Strategy and Growth for OCMC/Saddleback is the executive leader responsible for setting, validating, and driving the strategic priorities and operational alignment across the hospital and its aligned medical foundation.

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, this role acts as the on-site strategic owner, translating MemorialCare's growth vision into actionable, localized plans that drive market share, financial performance, and clinical excellence for the assigned campus.

This role focuses on strategy, service line optimization, market analysis, operational alignment, and performance governance for the campus, working in close matrix partnership with the system-wide Business Development team, which holds accountability for external deal execution and physician liaisons.

Essential Function

1. Campus Strategic Planning & Performance

  • Campus Strategic Plan:Develop and execute the strategic plan for the campus, ensuring deep alignment with the system's overarching mission, financial goals, and capital planning.
  • Service Line Architecture:Conduct rigorous market, financial, and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and gaps within key service lines (e.g., Cardiology, Orthopedics, Oncology). Develop specific strategies forgrowing, optimizing, or sunsettingcampus service line programs.
  • Operational Alignment:Partner with the Hospital President and campus leadership to integrate strategic initiatives into daily operations, focusing on patient access, capacity management, and efficiency.
  • Prioritization & Governance:Establish a formal prioritization and governance process for all campus strategic projects, ensuring resources are allocated against the highest-ROI initiatives. Maintain a strategic dashboard to track progress against key campus metrics.

2. Growth Analysis and Intelligence

  • Market Deep Dive:Continuously monitor the local competitive landscape, payer dynamics, regulatory changes, and population health needs relevant to the campus market. Synthesize intelligence into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.
  • Business Rigor:Lead the development of comprehensive business cases, financial models, and feasibility studies for all significant campus investments, clinical program expansions, and technology investments, ensuring a strong, measurable ROI.
  • Business Development Partnership:Serve as the strategic validator and internal 'customer' for the system-wide Business Development team. Inform their outreach efforts by providing insight on referral patterns, physician needs, and high-priority geographic expansion targets for the campus.

3. Partnerships, Innovation, and Execution

  • Physician Alignment Strategy:In partnership with Medical Group leadership, develop strategies to optimize physician alignment, retention, and integration-including clinical employment, co-management, joint operating agreements, and new care model implementation.
  • Innovation Champion:Identify and evaluate emerging clinical and operational technologies that will enhance the campus's performance, patient experience, or cost structure. Lead growth programs and champion their adoption.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership:Drive strategy creation and execution across clinical, finance, and operational teams. Serve as the primary strategic thought partner to the Hospital President and campus governing boards.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
