Total Facility Solutions/Exentec Installation Services is currently seeking an Expert Estimator in Cambridge, MA. This role is responsible for following the construction estimating process for process piping construction projects, and adhering to standardized procedures, methods and processes for estimating established within TFS.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities
  • Reviews construction project plans, specifications and coordinates with the team to confirm complete scope
  • Identifies risk issues on bid opportunities and their order of magnitude
  • Reviews constructability issues on process piping construction projects with operational staff
  • Solicits subcontractor and/or supplier information and pricing
  • Reviews subcontractor and vendor bid packages
  • Supports preparation of instructions to bidders, bid form and other bid solicitation information as required
  • Performs and/or manages the pricing effort for internal budgets
  • Prepares conceptual estimates based on minimal information
  • Reviews general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, hoisting plans, site logistics and other exhibits as prepared by Operations
  • Ensures the flow of bid project information is maintained and documented
  • Fills in minor and major scope/design gaps
  • Provides detailed breakouts for customers
  • Mentors and trains new estimators
  • Maintains and communicates data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs
  • Analyses alternate means and methods to determine the most economical alternative
  • Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations
  • Participates in estimating turnover transfer of information on successful projects including the Project Kick-off Meeting
  • Assists in the preparation of the proposal letter
  • Investigates and recommends the best industry standard estimating technology
  • Other duties as assigned
Show your expertise
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in construction
  • Prior experience in Mechanical or Process Piping Estimating is required
  • Proficient in at least one commercially available estimating software system, EBM or Accubid
