The Harriman Institute seeks a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in Ukrainian Studies for a two-year appointment, starting July 1, 2026. Postdoctoral research scholars are expected to concentrate on their own research and writing, which should be focused on some aspect of contemporary Ukrainian life, politics, and/or international affairs; to teach a course of their own design in the spring semester of each of the two years; to give a public seminar/lecture on their research; and to be active participants in the Institute's scholarly community and events. The Scholar is required to be in residence in the New York City area. This position is made possible by generous support of the Petro Jacyk Ukrainian Studies Fund. The primary criterion for this position is academic excellence. The Hiring Committee seeks evidence that the candidate's research, teaching, and publications will make a significant, original contribution to the study of contemporary Ukraine in their particular field of study. Eligibility is restricted to those who have received the Ph.D. between January 1, 2024 to June 30, 2026, and do not hold a tenure-track position. All scholars must have successfully defended and deposited their dissertations prior to the commencement of the appointment. Successful applicants are expected to commit to the full two-year sequence.
