The Director of Payroll Services will be responsible for all payroll activities associated with payroll
operations for Concentra, including physician and nonphysician payroll (approximately 14,000
employees). They will manage the production payroll operation utilizing two platforms, Oracle EBS and
ADP. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to, building, managing, and leading a highly
skilled and motivated team; implementing and refining processes and procedures; defining and
implementing internal controls; leading all merger and acquisition payroll due diligence and integrations
and being accountable and responsible for the payroll operations on a daily basis.
The position will report to the VP, Transition Services, and will lead a team at the corporate office,
including in-office and remote workforce. The Director of Payroll Services will bring a demonstrated
history of managing people and systems to deliver support and solutions to the business.
The role will require strong relationship building and negotiation skills and management of all applicable
external service providers in connection with these functions.



Responsibilities

* Manage and administer the timely, accurate company-wide payroll production and payroll operations for multi-location and multi state company.
* Responsible for the accounting for payroll taxes and other payroll deductions in coordination with Accounting.
* Manage all payroll specific vendor relationships such as tax, garnishment, pay card and employment verification.
* Oversee any legacy payroll systems until fully integrated to the core HRIS platform for Concentra, applying all processes, controls and other core activities.
* Ownership of the budget for payroll administration.
* Handle special projects, taking full responsibility for the administration and integrity of the project.
* Responsible for hiring, managing, developing and coaching staff of approximately 12-15 colleagues.
* Lead and mentor staff to handle day-to-day job duties in a positive and motivating environment.
* Development and enhancement of all payroll policy and procedures utilized by internal department and field management.
* Continued enhancement of process functionality based upon management direction and focus on self-service technologies.
* Monitoring and maintenance of all key internal controls for payroll service activities.
* Work with end users to identify opportunities for automation and/or streamlining of current
activities within the application(s).
* Support of communication with vendors on export requirements and change management on integrations.
* Drive initiatives to enhance the overall client experience, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
* Drive development and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess payroll performance and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met

Qualifications

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
Degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Customarily has at least the following experience:
5 years
* 5-10 years management experience in multi-location, state environment with 4,000+ employees
* Technically adept with required software applications including but not limited to Oracle, Kbase,
Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access. Experience with other in-house HR/Payroll applications a
plus.
* Experience with system setup, maintenance and interfaces to payroll application.
* Working understanding of underlying table structures and architecture.
* Current knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.

* Manage overall Payroll department budget, including budget planning, actuals vs. budget, etc.



Additional Data

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously sitting for extended periods,
frequent walking, and occasional standing. May continuously utilize hands and fingers for typing, flex or
extend wrist to perform other job-related tasks. The employee is continuously required to use hands and
fingers to feel, handle, or operate PC, office equipment and/or other equipment. Due to the nature of this
position, an employee can expect heavy computer usage requiring wrist flexion/extension for at least 8
hours per day. Occasional stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, or overhead reaching, and climbing in the
performance of work. The ability to hear and understand with clarity and detect sound, and have
conversations with staff, customers, management, etc. Hearing within the acceptable range for telephone
and in-person contacts. Normal or corrected vision to acceptable levels for office work. The ability to
lift/carry up to 10 pounds.

Minimal overnight travel up to 10% by land or air may be required of employee in this position. While
travelling the employee may encounter varying weather conditions, road and walking surfaces and will
need to adjust to those conditions (i.e., inclement weather, slippery surfaces, wet surfaces, uneven
surfaces, humid, cold or hot temperatures, etc.) Also, while travelling the employee will need to adjust to
the physical demands that may include: lifting to place luggage in overhead bin(s), standing in line(s),
walking, sitting for unknown periods of time, and other physical demands that travelling may impose on a
person.
