Description

TRISTAR is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Engineering Technician VI (SCN) to provide expert technical support for the installed SLQ-32 Fleet of Systems (FoS). This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical naval systems throughout various stages of installation, testing, and operational deployment. The ideal candidate will bring extensive technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to support the successful operation and maintenance of complex combat systems. Technical support services shall be provided through the various stages of system installation, Initial/AEGIS Light-Off (ILO/ALO), Casualty Reports (CASREP), Test & Evaluation (T&E) Events, Combat Systems Ship Qualifications Trials (CSSQT) or Combat System Assessment Team/Training (CSAT), Pre-Live Fire With A Purpose (Pre-LFWAP), Stage Testing, Builders Trial (BT), Propulsion Trials (PT), Acceptance Trials (AT), Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Combat Systems, Intelligence Light Off (C5ILO), Final Contract Trials (FCT), through the post-SailAway/delivery period until the SCN hull passes the Outside Work Limiting Date (OWLD) milestone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Incorporate the hardware and software for EW systems utilizing the plans, tools, and information provided above to perform hardware and software field changes while onboard U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard SCN hulls. The Contractor shall observe, and report documented quality checkpoints during the field change as detailed in the ICDs, installation drawings and other applicable documentation.
  • Execution of this tasking shall be performed IAW Industrial Test Procedures (ITP). AN/SLQ-32 Interfaces must be verified to include BLK2/BLK3 Interface to AN/SLA-10D, the ship's Combat and Navigation system, High Gain High Sensitivity (HGHS) and Specific Emitter Identification (SEI).
  • Verify successful Surface Electronic Warfare Team Trainer (SEWTT)/AEGIS Combat Training System (ACTS)/Battle Force Tactical Training (BFTT) interface IAW provided Government Furnished Information (GFI) and applicable ITPs to ensure successful embedded and integrated training can be executed from the CDS.
  • Troubleshoot system components by following applicable system test procedures; electrical/electronic/digital Operation Verification Testing (OVT); inter/exterior connection of system components, including cable cleaning and connection of Fiber Optic, Ethernet and copper; Virtual Memory Extension (VME) enclosures; fault/failure isolation and Lowest Repairable Unit (LRU) replacement; collaboration with peripheral system/subsystems to perform system-level tests and resolve integration discrepancies, aid in resolution of Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI)/Electro-Magnetic Charge (EMC) issues, and system casualties or configuration problems that may occur during integration/installation testing; and installation of formal software baselines.
  • Repair cable, connector and/or backshells as required if determined faulty, including RFoF cables. Fiber certification is required. RFoF work will be executed after cable builds are complete (prior to fiber termination) and shall include topology and specifications tests have been completed the contractor shall begin the system-acceptance phase of the installation to execute BIT and Calibration on the CDS to evaluate initial Human Machine Interface (HMI) faults and flags.
  • Fiber connections removed during troubleshooting shall be properly cleaned and tested per single mode, multi-mode and RFoF mode requirements.
Requirements
  • At least 3- 5 years of Technician experience with operation, test, maintenance & repair of naval ship systems.
  • 3-5 years technical installation/troubleshooting of electrical & mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with naval processes, documentation standards, systems integration, modernization/refit/alteration work on ships or shipyards.
  • Prepare technical documentation, alteration redlines, test reports.
  • Work with the Navy chain (TYCOMs, Regional Maintenance Centers, NAVSEA, etc) and ensure compliance with Navy/shipyard standards.
  • Ability to travel (CONUS/OCONUS).
  • Experience with SLQ-32(V)6 System a plus.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance.

Education:

  • High school diploma, GED or trade/industrial school certificate (or equivalent military technical schooling).
  • Fiber Optic Certification.
