What You Can Expect

As a BESS Performance Engineer II within ENGIE North America's Renewable & Flex Power Generation Business Unit, you will provide data analytics support for the company's renewable assets across the USA. Reporting to the Performance Analytics Manager, your main focus will be on improving and optimizing the performance of operational Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sites using advanced analytics, data visualization, and performance indicator reporting.

Primary Duties:



  • Maintain tools that monitor the overall performance and availability of the operating fleet (primarily battery storage, but also wind and solar)
  • Assist in developing and implementing advanced analytics to proactively identify failure modes and provide operations with actionable insights
  • Support field operations with equipment testing and data collection; interpret results and provide recommendations.
  • Participate in detailed analysis and investigations during equipment failures or other underperformance issues
  • Support data needs for budgeting, spare parts management, and other operational tasks
  • Improve KPI (key performance indicator) reporting tools and dashboards



What You'll Bring



  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, math, or equivalent certification/training
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in data analytics or operations at power plants (wind, solar, BESS) is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of data visualization tools and platforms (e.g., Power BI, Grafana, Databricks)
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, R, or Python
  • Basic understanding of electrical equipment and calculations
  • Ability to travel to sites in Texas and California
  • Strong commitment to personal and workplace safety
  • Action-oriented, self-motivated, able to lead a team or work independently, with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to systematically analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions, and implement solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with high accuracy
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Word, and project management systems



Additional Details



  • Eligible for hybrid work policy (based in Houston, TX)
  • Must be available for domestic travel up to 10% of the time, including some overnight trips
  • Must comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies



Compensation

Salary Range: $70,875 - $105,385 USD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
