Summary Assists with implementation of health management activities/programs for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina (BCBSSC) and/or BlueChoice members. Description

The remote Health Promotions Coordinator works with registered dietitians to implement and facilitate health management programs, with a focus on high-risk members. This role coordinates program aspects, provides health coaching, conducts research and analysis, and develops strategies to increase program effectiveness and participation.

Work Schedule:

  • During 90-day orientation: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Eastern Standard Time

  • After orientation: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM in employee's local time zone, Monday - Friday

Training: 90-day comprehensive training program (typically ready to take cases after approximately 2 months)

Program Implementation & Facilitation Assists with implementation of health management activities and programs for membership. Coordinates all aspects of assigned programs with emphasis on high-risk members. Provides health coaching telephonically or in person for assigned health programs. Utilizes data systems containing patient information and documents information appropriately. Follows and updates established procedures.

Program Development & Strategy Assists with development of strategies to increase effectiveness of and participation in health management programs. Establishes and maintains effective communications with provider network, group representatives, and members.

Research & Analysis Conducts research and analysis of reports (monthly, quarterly, annually). Adheres to policies and works toward attainment of program goals. Monitors member compliance and success rates.

Quality Improvement Assists with identification of areas for which there is a need for health management programs. Monitors quality indicators and develops programs to positively impact areas where improvement is warranted. Develops patient/provider educational materials for members/providers.

Education: Master's Degree from an ACEND-Accredited program

Work Experience:

  • 5 years clinical experience as a registered dietitian, OR

  • 2 years clinical experience in a payer setting as a registered dietitian

Licenses & Certifications:Active, and unrestricted national registration by the Commission on Dietician Registration.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Understanding of insurance and benefit programs as they relate to health management coverage

  • Knowledge of the quality improvement process

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and make sound decisions

  • Good judgment and customer service skills

  • Strong organizational and presentation skills

  • Proficiency in spelling, punctuation, and grammar

  • Ability to persuade, negotiate, or influence others

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Health Management, Healthcare Administration, or Social Work

  • 3+ years healthcare program management experience

  • Working knowledge of database software (Microsoft Access or similar)
