Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for general layout and as-built data collection, capturing survey data in an organized manner. You will work with virtual construction (VDC) team, field team, project management, regarding project survey/layout needs, and execute per company standards in fast-paced environment, supporting a combination of short-term and long-term project assignment needs.

Job Responsibilities

    Transfers known control points and elevation benchmarks, establishes additional control points, grid lines and offsets for building layout, piping layout, and other control needs
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, & seeks resolutions for field issues
  • Interprets contract documents, design models, & construction models as necessary to perform assigned tasks
  • Verifies and ensures that working documents are up-to-date
  • Maintains accurate documentation of control setup references, control lines, offsets, as-built reporting to the office, revisions made in the field, as well as turn in daily field log
  • Analyzes drawings and/or field conditions and notifies office and field team members of any discrepancies and makes recommendations as needed
  • Inspects and ensures equipment in good working order
  • Executes all layout or as-built tasks necessary, including pre-planning ahead of scheduled activities
  • Communicates with office Virtual Construction (VDC/BIM) modeling team for importing layout point updates and exporting as-built data
  • Determines & implements mathematical functions as they pertain to layout and engineering
  • Performs fundamental layout techniques using Tape Measures, Squares, Builders Levels, Transits, and technical equipment, primarily Robotic Total Station
  • Travel as required - job site assignment in southeast region
  • Other duties which may be assigned as needed

Education & Years of Experience:

  • High School Diploma; Certification of Apprenticeship completion, or 4 years of construction related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent analytical skills and mathematical ability
  • General knowledge of OSHA regulations and specific knowledge of The Haskell Company code of safe practices (Division 700)
  • Experience with building construction, general carpentry, basic layout, formwork systems, crew needs
  • General computer skills using Laptops, iPads, Microsoft Office, and Trimble total station equipment, Trimble Field Link, Trimble Access, AutoCAD, Revit, and other software is preferred

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
