Work Location

This not a remote position. Candidates who are located within 50 miles of a West Bend office location will work a hybrid schedule (at least 3 days/week) for collaboration days, team meetings or other in-person events. The position can be based in West Bend, Madison or Appleton.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

    Maintain and evolve data governance policies and standards to ensure alignment with enterprise objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee governance controls and procedures, including reference data management and the Enterprise Data Framework, to ensure consistent data practices.
  • Support data quality and accuracy by coordinating testing and validation activities in accordance with architectural and governance standards.
  • Lead and facilitate Data Ownership and Data Stewardship meetings, providing guidance and accountability for data domain management.
  • Collaborate across business and IT functions-including architects, stewards, and reporting teams-to ensure adherence to governance standards and to embed governance within operational processes.
  • Prioritize and align governance activities with enterprise portfolio management to support business priorities and data-driven initiatives.
  • Establish data quality controls and measures, leveraging approved tools to evaluate and monitor data quality, as well as to raise, track and execute on data quality issues.
  • Manage the enterprise data catalog, ensuring scalability, proper metadata capture, and accessibility for data consumers across the organization.
  • Develop and monitor governance performance metrics, reporting on adoption, policy compliance, and data quality improvement progress.
  • Oversee remediation and documentation of key data issues, ensuring root cause resolution and continuous improvement in data processes.
  • Stay current with evolving data governance, metadata, and data quality best practices, integrating advancements into the organization's governance framework.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • 7 years of experience in Data Governance
  • 3 years of experience in team leadership
  • Experience with querying data, project management, data structures, flows, and uses in P&C insurance companies
  • Experience with Data Governance and Data Quality technology (Alation, Collibra, Unity Catalog, etc.)
  • Knowledge of EDW standards & trends
  • Oral & written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills

Preferred Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, or related discipline
  • Associate in General Insurance designation

Salary Statement

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. Compensation decisions are made by West Bend and are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
