Job Summary:

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist acts as an internal consultant by collaborating with assigned internal business units across Crown Laboratories SBU's to source, recommend, and execute the best solution(s) for materials, supplies, and/or services. This person will be responsible for negotiating new and existing agreements to effectively impact all costs (acquisition, avoidance, etc.) to strengthen the company's overall cost position and security of supply. Further, this person will work in close coordination with the various business partners to create and deploy company sourcing strategies to identify synergies for improved supplier terms, risk mitigation, and best practice related to inventory management.

Reporting to: Strategic Sourcing Director

Location: Johnson City, TN (100% onsite)

Responsibilities/Essential Duties:



  • Leads assigned category sourcing strategy to include, but not limited to, proposal / specification development, cost modeling, supplier selection, price negotiation and bid evaluation processes.
  • Performs market research to identify potential suppliers for new and existing vendors/products.
  • Provides analytical data and information to support procurement goals and objectives.
  • Optimizes company cost position through cost and scenario analysis, including benchmarking where appropriate.
  • Identifies single sourced categories that present a high risk to the company, and work with Supply Chain business unit leaders to evaluate and select secondary suppliers to qualify.
  • Performs sourcing/coordination duties for NPD's/Tech Transfer projects, including requesting samples and documentation for R&D/QC.
  • Works with Finance team to maintain price and standard cost accuracy in the ERP system.
  • Travel up to 10%.



Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years' directly related experience.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, or equivalent directly related experience.
  • 2+ years' experience in Supply Chain /Strategic Sourcing with record of increased responsibility.
  • Experience with a global supply chain.
  • Experience with both direct and indirect materials.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Interpersonal skills to develop and manage relationships with internal customers and suppliers; negotiate effectively; and present ideas and proposals in written and oral form.
  • General knowledge of available sources of pertinent business information, analytical skills to evaluate this information and communications skills to prepare / present presentations. Business information includes major suppliers, industry cost drivers, market indices and leading indicators
  • Must have strong background in negotiation skills and building supplier relationships.
  • Understanding of business and supply chain terminology
  • Ability to think strategically with excellent quantitative skills
  • Proven record of results based performance
  • Detailed-oriented and able to multi-tasking strength
